Alexis loves animals. We got a dog once and that lasted 2 days. I was pregnant with Paxton at the time and having a puppy felt like having a newborn. And I cried and cried because my pregnancy hormones couldn't deal with the idea of having two babies in the house. We had thought about getting a cat. We were asked to dog sit for a week over the summer and Alexis showed great responsibility in taking care of the dog. So in August when there were Free kittens at Kents market, we ended up bringing one home. Alexis named her "Kitty." And the girls slept on the floor with her the first night home. Kitty slept all night with them and everyone slept all night.

Although Alexis really was very responsible in taking care of Kitty, after about 2 months the newness wore off. And Kitty was becoming a cat. And Mom was tired of smelling cat litter even though we tried to keep it clean and fresh. Paxton was very rough loving on Kitty. Alexis didn't want Kitty to leave, but it didn't take a lot of convincing. And Greg's sister wanted her, so we gave her away. A neighbor cat likes to sleep on our porch most days when it is cold outside. So the girls still get to play with a cat, but it stays outside.

I envy people that can take care of pets as well as children. I haven't been able to do it yet, but maybe one day. I love that first picture BTW ~
Thank you for helping me feel better about not letting my kids have pets. We dog sit for our friends to give our kids the joy of an animal and then it goes home. Then, I vacuum all the hair up. Yuck.
